Map

https://z6z.co/essequiboIn order to be the first team to navigate the Essequibo River we first must find and document the source. Despite having many “sources” the true source of a river is generally accepted by The Guinness Book of Records as being the furthest source from the mouth.

Once we document the source (the icon on the map will change) and we will be paddling through the jungle-clad Acarai mountains. Initially we will pass back through Wai Wai territory but then we soon drop into 300km or so of untouched and undocumented rainforest.

We’ll be portaging around waterfalls like Murrays Fall, Pot Falls, and Kumaka Falls as well as countless rapids before starting on the home stretch to the Atlantic Ocean.

The entire journey is over a thousand kilometres and has never been done before.
